In a tweet, Kamal said that the state has an accumulated debt of Rs 57,000 on each person’s head. “The main reason (for the debt) is two Dravidian parties. Let us remove them (from power) and increase the state’s revenue. Let us create a debt-free Tamil Nadu. If people join hands, we will get justice,” he said.  State Congress president KS Alagiri too criticised the budget saying that it does not have long term plan. “There is no new announcements,” he said adding “though the government has declared Cauvery Delta region as a special zone, no funds were allocated for that.” Calling the budget a total “eye-wash,” Alagiri said, “since the state debts have increased, the budget does not have new projects.” The Left also criticised the budget. CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan said that the state’s financial management has become worse. CPI state secretary R Mutharasan attributed the drop in the revenue collection to the GST.
