“DMK’s claim of obtaining 2 crore signatures is fake. If the actual number is 2 crores, then at least one in four persons should have signed in Tamil Nadu. How is it possible and whom they have faked to get the signatures,” asked Pon Radhakrishnan, while addressing the media, in Chennai.

Recently, DMK president MK Stalin launched the campaign of obtaining signatures from public in the state against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Initially, the DMK had set the target of obtaining one crore signatures against Citizenship Amendment Act, but due to overwhelming support from the public Stalin said that the signature count has crossed 2 crores.

When the issue was mentioned, Pon Radhakrishan said that the DMK is carrying out the campaign and protests against CAA only to get Muslim votes. He further said that the campaign was a forced signature campaign and people did not sign it voluntarily.

BJP National Secretary H Raja also expressed the same opinion. “CAA is just a weapon taken by the DMK to spread its anti-Hindu agenda and the signatures obtained in the campaign were forced upon the people.”

He also said that recently, Theni MP OP Ravindranath Kumar was attacked by Islamist forces for voting in support of the CAA and warned that if nationalists decide to attack all the 38 DMK MPs from Tamil Nadu who voted against CAA, law and order in the state would be affected.
