Actor aligning with saffron parties, says VCK chief

“Even before floating his political party, Rajinikanth is trying to prove his identity. He has become the voice of Bharatiya Janata Party and Sangh Parivar,” said Thirumavalavan in Tirunelveli on Wednesday.

The Sangh Parivar and other such religious forces had been trying to get a foothold in Tamil Nadu, but could never make it. Despite this, Rajinikanth seemed to align himself with such forces to create a new identity. While referring to comments made earlier in Chennai about Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Population Register (NPR) to reporters, Thirumavalavan said the actor seemed not just simply talking all about these, but he’s shrewd. He’s trying to align himself with the saffron colour.

Further talking to reporters in Tirunelveli, Thirumavalavan said unlike census, which is undertaken once in ten years, the Centre has come out with the NPR with intent to intimidate people. Under the Centre’s NPR manual, it was mandated that each and every citizen should register date and place of birth of their parents in the manual. If any citizen failed to do so, he or she would be treated as ‘doubtful’ citizen, who could not enjoy citizenship rights. Moreover, they would be declared foreigners and thrown into detention camps. But, Rajinikanth was raising his voice in favour of NPR,he rued.
