Karur tense as cadre block search party

Tension prevailed at Karur when the CCB police from Chennai came to search the house of DMK MLA V Senthil Balaji and his brother Ashok on Friday. DMK cadre converged in front of Balaji’s house and staged a protest. They prevented police from entering his brother’s house too.

It is said, at 7 am, a team of police from Chennai came to the house of V Senthil Balaji at Rameshwarapatti near Karur Manmangalam to conduct a search. It is said, Senthil Balaji was away on attending the DMK conference in Tiruchy while his mother Palaniammal was alone in the house. The police showed the court order to Palaniammal and commenced the house search.

On information, the DMK cadre rushed to the spot and raised slogans against the ruling AIADMK and claimed that it was purely political vendetta and the police were searching the house to please the ruling party. While they were raising slogans, kin, who went to support Palaniammal, was prevented by the police. However, the cadre continued to raise slogans and later, after a thorough inspection, the police allowed the woman to assist Palaniammal.

The search lasted for around two hours. Later, the police went to Senthil Balaji’s brother Ashok’s house and the office at Ramakrishnapuram around 9 am. But, the house was locked and the DMK cadre who gathered there stopped the police from enter it and they demanded not to break open the lock and enter the house. The cadre also staged a road block condemning the police action.

On information, a team of police led by DSP Sukumaran held talks with the agitating cadre. Later, at 1.30 pm, the police left the place. It is said, they could not find any document in the house and office.

Move to tarnish image: Balaji 

Meanwhile, Senthil Balaji who was in Tiruchy, clarified to reporters that he had no connection with the Transport recruitment case and the names of himself and his brother was not mentioned in the complaint. That the police entered their house when there was no one available except the aged mother was condemnable. “The AIADMK government want to tarnish my image and plan to hinder my political career. But, I will face it legally anytime,” Senthil Balaji added.
