Meanwhile, anticipating arguments and problems, DMK cadre led by the District Secretary S Kalyanasundaram and AIADMK cadre led by the Union Secretary Cholapuram K Arivalagan were waiting outside the meeting hall of office of the BDO.

In the meeting, Commissioner Poongulali passed nearly nine resolutions, including thanking DMK president who won in the legal fight for the local body polls. Soon, the AIADMK member Sasikala opposed it and argued to adopt any resolution only after discussion. Soon the DMK members raised voice against her and there was a heated argument between the AIADMK and DMK members in the meeting hall.

On hearing the noise, both the AIADMK and DMK cadre who were waiting outside the meeting hall rushed inside and they were stopped by the office employees. Altercation between the cadre of both the parties continued, but suddenly, the AIADMK cadre managed to enter into the Commissioner’s office and staged a sit in protest condemning the DMK members.

Soon, Nachiyarkoil police inspector Rekha Rani tried to pacify both the party cadre but suddenly, a section of cadre started damaging the office doors and windows in which the window glass panes were damaged. On seeing this, the DMK cadre raised slogans against the AIADMK workers rekindling another round of argument.

On information, Thiruvidaimaruthur DSP Ashokan and other police officials rushed to the spot and held talks with the agitating members. Later, the DMK cadre demanded to initiate action against the AIADMK cadre who damaged the windows and later, a complaint was lodged by the Commissioner Poongulali with the Nachiyarkoil police.

A heavy posse of police was deputed to avert untoward incidents.
