Following the disqualification of 99 candidates who appeared in TNPSC group 4 exam, CBCID has on Saturday started inquiring examination centers that conducted exams in five more districts namely Cuddalore, Sivaganga, Tanjore, Tirunelveli and Vilupuram.

Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has on Friday confirmed malpractices by 99 candidates, who took up the Group 4 examinations, held on September 1, 2019. The commission has also disqualified all of them. TNPSC had conducted a probe after allegations surfaced that many candidates who took the exams in Rameswaram and Keelakarai centres grabbed top ranks in the Group 4 exams.

TNPSC released the rank list for Group 4 exams in December which sparked allegations of possible malpractices. As students who were named in the top 100 ranks, had written their exams from centres in Rameswaram and Keelakarai in Ramanathapuram district.

Later, the TNPSC had announced an inquiry into the allegations on January 6. Based on a complaint by the Commission, an FIR has also been registered against the 99 candidates and the agents who were involved in malpractice.
