The enquiry was the fallout of relatives of Farida, wife of Imran of Arif Nagar in Tirupattur town, besieging the hospital and refusing to accept the body, resulting in top police and revenue officials rushing to placate the agitators. The incident took place on January 21. Subsequently, a three-level enquiry headed by the director of public health met both medical and para-medical personnel and it was then found that no doctors had been available when the delivery took place and that it was undertaken by nurses, who called up the doctors in order to clear doubts and go ahead with procedures to be followed.

It was also found that once the delivery was completed, the nurses failed to follow-up with post delivery procedures and left, which resultedin Farida’s death. Officials assured that action would be taken against all the people involved.
