RANIPET: Investigations revealed that Aljiani (31) of Gengavalli village in Salem district was in the habit of dressing up like a TTE and extorting money from the public. He boarded the Chennai bound Mumbai express and when it was nearing Tiruttani, he demanded the passengers to show him their tickets on Thursday night. Though passengers showed him their tickets, he still demanded that they pay ‘fines’ under various pretexts.

Passengers, who grew suspicious of the Aljiani detained him and informed the railway police at Tiruttani railway station. When questioned by railway police, Aljiani gave contradictory replies and he was found to be a bogus TTE. Following this Tiruttani railway police informed their counterparts at Arakkonam railway police, who rushed to Tiruttani and arrested Aljiani. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
