AIADMK democratic, DMK dynastic, says Palaniswami
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday took a dig at the DMK for its dynastic politics saying only those from late leader M Karunanidhi’s family could reach the helm, unlike the AIADMK.

“It’s a party for family. Karunanidhi was there and after him Stalin has come and then his son Udhayanidhi will take over. But the AIADMK is a democratic party where anyone can reach the top. We even fielded only normal persons in both local body polls and parliamentary polls unlike the DMK where only family members contested,” he said, while addressing a public meet organised as part of MGR birth anniversary celebrations in Salem.
Stating that everyone in AIADMK has the ability to become a Chief Minister, he said, not just one Palaniswami, but there are thousands of Palaniswami’s in theAIADMK.
On the criticism by DMK that AIADMK is a waning moon, the Chief Minister said that the party has been registering bigger victories in every poll unlike the DMK.
“The DMK won the Parliamentary polls by promising lies, but then began to face set back in the polls held for Assembly seats and in the local body polls. It will now be known which party is a ‘theipirai’ (waning moon),” he said.
Accusing Stalin to be a leader without administrative abilities, the Chief Minister said that the ruling AIADMK has been receiving awards after awards for its able administration. He denied charges that AIADMK has been honoured with awards for being in alliance with the BJP.
Stating that the law and order situation in Tamil Nadu is good, the Chief Minister said that it was hence the Prime Minister and Chinese president chose to meet in Tamil Nadu leaving out other states. The Chief Minister also assured that minorities will not be affected by the National Population Register works to be taken up by theCentre.
