Dad’s plea to re-probe DSP’s suicide rejected

The court’s dismissal comes after the CBI investigated the matter for the second time and made its submission that Vishnupriya took the extreme step due to personal reasons.

The court ordered to reopen the case earlier after the CBI submitted a report for itsclosure in April, 2018, stating no evidence for murder or foul play.

After Vishnupriya’s father N Ravi Kumar contended that his daughter took the extreme step due to pressure exerted by senior officials, the court ordered the premier investigation agency to hold a detailed investigation.

The CBI, on August 28, last year submitted its second report, reiterating no evidence for murder or foul play in her death.

When the case came up for hearing, counsel for Vishnupriya’s father Ravi Kumar, submitted a petition to re-investigate the case. However, the court dismissed the petition.

Ravi Kumar, however, told the media that he would move the court against the closure of the case. “I will fight until I get justice for my daughter’s death,” he said.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tiruchengode Division in Namakkal district, who was probing into the sensational murder case of Dalit youth Gokulraj, was found hanging in her quarters on September 18, 2015.

Vishnupriya’s friend and batchmate K Maheswari, who was then serving as a DSP at Keezhakkarai in Ramanathapuram district, also alleged that she committed suicide unable to bear harassment from higher officials.

The state government transferred theGokulraj case and Vishnupriya case to theCB-CID, which was then transferred to the CBI in July 2016.
