Justice P D Audikesavalu, the portfolio judge hearing election matters, agreed to hear the plea for recounting in the said three districts on Tuesday if the pleas are numbered by then.

Earlier, when the first bench comprising Chief Justice A P Sahi and Subramonium Prasad commenced their sitting, DMK advocate R Neelakandan made a mention before the bench seeking to offer a direction to take up the case on an urgent basis as there has been gross irregularities indulged in by the ruling AIADMK resulting in the DMK candidates losing in the three districts.

However, the first bench pointed out that the plea must be moved before the portfolio judge and he alone can decide to take the case on an urgent basis or not.

Following this, the advocate made the mention before portfolio judge P D Audikesavalu. Thereafter, pleas alleging gross irregularities in the election process in Tiruvannamalai, Mannargudi and Dharmapuri districts were filed.
