An admirer of the weekend altruistic works done by Abdul Kalam Youth brigade, Balaji of the locality, decided to provide cooking utensils for the needy. He expressed his interest to donate utensils to the youth brigade and soon the idea turned into a reality with the distribution of utensils worth Rs 50,000 to New Vasur and Rangapuramanganwadis.
Speaking on the reason for choosing the two anganwadis, Dinesh said that the coordinators of New Vasur and Rangapuram anganwadis were already requesting utensils for the balwadis as the staff were finding it difficult to serve the food. “When Balaji expressed willingness to donate the cooking utensils we acted as a bridge and handed them over to the two anganwadis,” he said.
Stating that the staff of the anganwadis need to find the donors to get utensils, he said, “The staff told me that the government will not provide them with such items and they usually have to get such items through donors. In fact, the gate of the Vasur anganwadi is also going to be replaced through donorsshortly.”
Meanwhile, the Abdul Kalam Youth brigade spreading the branches of their altruistic works, donated two bench cum beds provided by one Nagaraj to two underprivileged families residing behind the SP’s office at Sathuvachari last week. Nagaraj agreed to donate the beds as he was impressed by the work done by the youth and also he wanted to help the deprived get a good sleep especially during the winter, they said.
