“If he (Udhayakumar) believes that being a Minister gives him the liberty to issue any statement and criticise our party president as he pleases, he will become a political orphan in future,” said DMK deputy general secretary I Periasamy, responding to Udhayakumar’s statement that Stalin was leveling charges against the incumbent AIADMK regime, unable to tolerate the good governance certificate from the Centre.

Referring to Udhayakumar’s constant change in loyalty from J Jayalalithaa to Edappadi K Palaniswami days, Periasamy said that he could blame the Minister for changing colours like a chameleon, which is “selfish intra-party politics,” but he has no credentials to criticise either Stalin or his predecessor M Karunanidhi.Describing the good governance certificate from the Centre as a reward for supporting Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and National Population Register, the DMK leader remarked that the agitated Minister was lambasting the DMK after the publicity overdrive of the Edappadi regime was undone by his party president Stalin’s statement on the issue.

“The Minister would not have issued such a disparaging statement if he were given a post worthy of his credentials. He was offered a post above his worth by accident. Hence, he has made derogatory remarks against our leader without knowing the history of the DMK,” said the former revenue minister, before cautioning that Udhayakumar should exercise restraint and they would not tolerate use of harsh language in his critique of their party president.

Alleging that the Minister was engaged in large scale corruption in disaster relief, the DMK deputy general secretary said, “Given the corruption he is involved in, the Minister should first choose between Chennai or Madurai Central Prison.”
