Garland with 1.8L vadas adorns Hanuman at Namakkal temple

Hundreds of devotees from across Tamil Nadu thronged the Anjaneyar temple in Namakkal to celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi on Wednesday. At about 18-foot, this temple in Namakkal has one of the tallest Hanuman idols in the State.

The idol was adorned with a garland made of 1.8 lakh vadas made by priests from Tiruchy. Priests said that materials worth Rs 20 lakh, including 2,200 kg black gram flour, 600 litre gingelly oil, 33 kg pepper and 125 kg salt were used to make the snacks.


Also a special puja, abhishekam and laksharchana were performed. As a large number of devotees turned up, the police strengthened security inthe area.


Vehicles going through Namakkal-Kottai road were diverted to other routes to prevent congestion. Devotees were allowed into the temple through a separate way on Kottaivasal Road. The pilgrims presented tulasi and vetrilai garlands to Lord Hanuman.
