Vellore draft electoral rolls out, women outnumber men
Women voters had an edge over their male counterparts when Vellore DRO J Parthiban released the draft electoral rolls for the erstwhile integrated Vellore district including the newly formed Ranipet and Tirupatur districts at Vellore on Monday.

The electoral rolls had names of 15,94,921 women and 15,32, 885 men.
With January 1, 2020 being declared base date for addition of new voters in the poll rolls, the 13 constituencies in the three districts have a total voter strength of 35, 27, 986 including 180 voters from the third gender.
“Voters have been asked to take recourse to forms 6,7,8 and 8A for additions, deletion of names, to make corrections and to change addresses within the same constituency respectively,” Parthiban said. The rolls would be displayed at 1,700 locations including 1,665 polling station locations, he added.
Similarly, in Tiruvannamalai district, collector KS Kandasamy released the draft poll rolls which reveal a total voter strength of 19,91,536 voters of which 97,96,699 are men,10,11,749 are women and 90 from the third gender. He said that between March 23 and December 6 this year, 6,931 new voters were added while another 4,833 names were removed owing to death or change of location of voters.
Special camps would be conducted on January 4, 5, 11 and 12 for new voters to join and existing voters to make corrections and deletions, Kandasamy added.
