A daily wager has murdered his alcoholic son following a quarrel in Krishnagiri district.

The deceased Logesh (32) from Sanamavu village near Uthanapalli got married just three months ago. “Before marriage, Logesh was working in a cellphone shop in Chennai. However, after the marriage, he stopped going for work and often quarrelled with his parents, Krishnappa (55) and Radhammal, demanding money to consume liquour,” the police said.

Unable to bear his torture, Krishnappa and his wife had gone to stay with their daughter. On Saturday night, Krishnappa had gone to his house in Sanamavu, when a quarrel broke out with his son, who was under the influence of alcohol.

Suddenly, Logesh took a wooden log and tried to hit his father. However, Krishnappa grabbed it and assaulted him back. The police said Logesh suffered serious injuries and collapsed. Not to let him away, Krishnappa then picked up a sickle and hacked him to death on the spot. Then, Krishnappa surrendered at the Uthanapalli police station.

The body of the youth has been sent to Hosur Government Hospital for post mortem. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
