Earlier, PMK youth wing leader and Rajya Sabha MP Anbumani Ramadoss urged the state government to take steps to bring back the lorries struck in Kashmir.

“Recently, there was heavy snowfall and slides in Kashmir due to which lorries from Tamil Nadu, which went to get apples were struck. Despite clearing the snow Kashmir administration is refusing to release the lorries and the state government should interfere in the issue to release the lorries immediately,” said Anbumani, in a statement.

He also said that 900 men in 450 container lorries from Salem and Namakkal region went to Kashmir to get apples, on November 10 and after loading the apples the lorries had started from Shopian in Kashmir, on December 7. However, when the lorries started to return there was heavy snowfall accompanied by slides due to which the transportation was affected.

The vehicles were made to station in Shopian and the works to remove the snow was carried out by the Kashmir administration. Though works were completed, only tourist vehicles are allowed to move out of Shopian and the commercial vehicles are made to stay at the centre.

The lorries are struck in Kashmir for 13 days and the state should immediately contact the officials in Kashmir to release the trucks, he urged.
