Modi implementing RSS agenda one after other, says D Raja
CPI General Secretary D Raja, who is coordinating efforts by Left parties with other political outfits on the nationwide-strike on the Citizenship Amendment Act planned on December 19, said that the Narendra Modi government is only implementing the RSS agenda in an interview to our New Delhi correspondent VS Chandrasekar.

What next because the law has been enacted?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks of cooperative federalism, but it is the RSS-BJP combine which is implementing their agenda. The law is being challenged in the Supreme Court. We find the students are resisting the BJP-RSS combine and political parties are opposing it. The Left parties, Congress and secular parties coming together to oppose it. In Kerala, both the ruling Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front have come together (against it). In Delhi political parties are coming together for agitations.
Even today (Tuesday) Congress, Left parties, DMK, RJD and other parties met President Ram Nath Kovind. After all the President is the head of the state and the Constitution and he is the Chancellor of several varsities. We are taking it up with him as the custodian of the Constitution.
The BJP and RSS are working against the Constitution and Constitutional morality. What we are asking today is the undeclared subversion of the Constitution. It is extremely detrimental to the country and its future. It is what we are telling the people that they should release and agitate against the government in defence of the Constitution and democracy.Â
Like Kerala, will the Left parties join the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal during the protest against the CA Act.Â
In West Bengal, so far we have not contacted the TMC. Left and TMC have held protests separately against the new law.Â
Home Minister Amit Shah asks why should Indian Muslims fear when the law is for giving citizenship to persecuted minorities from three countries. What is the objection to it?
Everyone knows RSS treats Indian Muslims as outsiders and they want a Hindu nation. This Bill gives scope for that. But the people of India cannot be taken for granted. They fought against the British and got independence. What Amit Shah says is not right. He thinks he is Sardar Patel. Patel had a different view of nationality. It was Patel in association with Jawaharlal Nehru and BR Ambedkar who worked out the Constitution. Amit Shah is quite opposed to what Patel stood for.
Modi being the Prime Minister does not take Parliament seriously. He does not participate in Parliament discussions on Jammu and Kashmir and the CA Act. But he makes comments on these issues outside Parliament in election meetings. People are asking why as Prime Minister he cannot speak in Parliament. Parliament is being undermined. If Parliament becomes redundant, it means the country is moving towards full-fledged emergence of fascist rule.
Why has the Union government brought this law and why now?
Probably they know that their time is running out. The economy is in a shambles and in deep crisis. The GDP is going down, the Indian Rupee is going down, unemployment is going up, inflation is going up….That is why all central trade unions and federations and various bodies have given a call for all-India strike in the first week of January. In parallel, agriculture organisations have given a call for ‘grameen’ bandh on the same day. The measures announced by the government are not in the interest of the people.Â
Though they have got a majority in Lok Sabha in the general elections, the vote percentage for the ruling combine was only 37 per cent. In the Assembly elections, Haryana was virtually a defeat for BJP while in Maharashtra, which has seen the worst of farmers’ suicides, Modi-Shah combine talked of Art 370. Â
They are afraid of dissent. They label dissenters as anti-nationals and slap sedition cases against them. This shows how desperate the BJP-RSS combine is. They are doing everything to polaraise and want to take advantage of it in elections, even if it is in states like Jharkhand and Delhi.
