At Ambur town in Tirupattur district, hundreds of members of the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi burnt copies of the Citizenship Amendment Act and this led to minor chaos at the venue. Following this, around 50 cadre were arrested by the police.

In Tiruvannamalai town, a group of students of the government arts college staged a token demonstration condemning the ‘draconian’ Act and demanded its withdrawal. After raising slogans for some time, the students returned to their classes.

However, the entire Vellore remained peaceful as there was no agitation either for or against the bill in any part of the district by any outfit or political party.
