Woman dies after surgery, kin blame docs

Police said that Vinithra (40), wife of Aravind of Puliyarampakkam village near Cheyyar, was admitted to the government hospital for delivery on Wednesday. Vinithra, who delivered a male child on Wednesday, underwent a tubectomy operation after which both the mother and baby were shifted to the general ward.

On Thursday, Vinithra developed some complications and despite doctors attending to her immediately, she died. Relatives blamed the doctors for medical negligence and besieged the hospital on Friday.

Immediately, health department and police officials rushed to the spot and held talks with the agitators who gave up their protest after officials assured them of inquiry into the woman’s death.
