The members of the family, along with their relatives and local people from Pappapatti, a locality near Ramanathapuram, approached the Collectorate in Ramanathapuram on Monday, and appealed to the authorities concerned to bring back the body soon.

According to petitioner Ranjitha, her husband Balamurugan left for job in Dubai as a casual labourer, a couple of years ago. During his work days, Balamurugan used to communicate with his wife over cell phone. But much to her shock, she received a call from Dubai at 2 pm on December 6, informing Balamurugan’s death in a hospital.

Citing these, the aggrieved Ranjitha said she could not believe that her husband was dead. Four days had gone by and the family is not aware whether any steps had been taken by the employer to send the body to his native place. Hence, the District Administration was requested to provide all possible help to bring his body back for burial at his native village in Ramanathapuram, Ranjitha, who was moved to tears, said.

Since Balamurugan was the sole breadwinner in the family, there’s no alternative for earning livelihood to run her family. Balamurugan is survived by his wife and two daughters. Hence, the State government should come forward to economically support this grief-stricken family and also to render assistance in educating his daughters.

The government could also provide job for any of the family members on humanitarian grounds, Ranjitha said in a petition submitted to Collector K. VeeraRaghava Rao.
