“Next year, Rajinikanth will definitely start his political party. I am certain about it,” Tamilaruvi Manian told reporters after a meeting with the actor at his Poes Garden residence here.

To a query on Rajinikanth and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan coming together, Manian clarified that he has no authority to speak on behalf of Rajinikanth and over his action after launching political party. “Rajini will announce his party only next year after thoroughly analysing various issues. He knows when to start,” he said while responding to a query on whether Rajinikanth would announce launch of his party on his birthday.

Asked about his meeting with Rajinikanth, he said he met to greet him ahead of his birthday on December 12. “We did not discuss about politics. It is a kind of meeting between brothers. We spoke about family matters. He enquired about my wife, who underwent a surgery recently,” he said.

On the ensuing local body polls, Tamilaruvi Manian said that he doubts whether the polls would be held. “DMK has knocked the doors of Supreme Court against conducting the polls. I also have certain apprehension over the elections. New districts have been created and delimitation works are still on. A case has been filed seeking reservation for deputy Mayor and vice president posts. Amid such a scenario, I doubt whether the local body polls would be held,” he said.

Rajinikanth has said that the people of Tamil Nadu will create a “wonder and marvel” in the 2021 Assembly elections to the state. He also called Edappadi K Palaniswami becoming Chief Minister as a wonder and no one thought he would be a CM one day.

The actor, who announced his political plunge in December 2017 concurred with his friend and Kamal Haasan that he would join hands with the MNM leader if the need arises.
