“Union government conducting entrance examination for state government departments is against the Constitution since the Constitution has given rights for states to recruit its own employees. Articles 308 to 323 speak about the rights of the state governments and the State Public Service Commissions to recruit the staff required for them, but the Centre has set aside the Constitution and has decided to implement CET,” said Anbumani.

He also said that in the past there was only one State Public Service Commission for every state to recruit vacancies in all the departments, but now there are separate recruiting agencies such as Teachers Recruitment Board, separate recruitment boards to recruit doctors, engineers and so on.

All these recruitment boards are an indication of autonomy of the state and if CET is implemented it will undermine the autonomy of the state, he said.

Anbumani further said that CET is against social justice and the Centre should drop the plan of conducting it.
