BJP meddling with economy, slams Cong

Describing as ‘superstition’ the statement of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman that the economic slump would be set right in a short term, Alagiri said that neither BJP regime nor the Minister seems to be concerned about the economic downturn. Comparing the five-trillion-dollar economy claim of the BJP regime to the fall in GDP from 5 to 4.5 per cent, Alagiri said the economy was plummeting under the BJP regime. Drawing the Centre’s attention to wealth of the rich, who account for one percent of the population, increasing from 57 to 73 per cent in the last four years, Alagiri wondered if the BJP regime was working for the farmers, villagers and unorganised workers?

Referring to reported distribution of 70 per cent of education loans to general category students, the TNCC chief, in a statement loaded with statistics, said the incumbent BJP was traversing on a path contrary to the one laid down by the Congress regime which had introduced the education loan scheme. Remarking the biggest problem of the incumbent Centre was statistics, Alagiri referred to the steep fall in economic indices and said the economy of the country has fallen to the level that the government refuses to accept the report of the department of statistics.
