The event will be kick-started by the BJP’s national working president JP Nadda here on Saturday. The gala function is to be attended by the BJP workers at Vengathur in Tiruvallur.

As a prelude to the event, BJP leader Muralidhar Rao on Friday conducted an interactive session with the public and party workers on the measures that would strengthen the saffron party in the state. The public expectations on the Central government were also discussed at the party headquarters during the informal meeting.

BJP leaders Nadda and Muralidhar Rao are also to meet the state office-bearers of the BJP. The meeting will assume significance in the wake of the state BJP party president post lying vacant. With the civic polls expected and the general Assembly polls scheduled in 2021, the visit of BJP leader Nadda will be a booster for the party, Kamalalayam, BJP headquarters sources said.

The BJP had also invited public and cadre to voice their opinions on the political issues on Tamil Nadu and the digital presence of the party is to be strengthened in the coming days.

“The party has been viewing Rajinikanth for some time, but the Superstar is reluctant to join the BJP led faction. However, there are also other options and plans with the national party,” said a BJP insider stating that the Nadda’s visit will narrow down the fight for the post of party president between BJP leaders.

Names of Vaanathi Srinivasan, former union minister Pon Radhakrishnan and KT Raghavan are making rounds for the party president post that is lying vacant after Telangana Governor Tamilsai Soundararajan relinquished the post.

“The BJP and AIADMK had allied ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in March but their alliance has started developing cracks. To address the issues and to ensure that the national party emerges as a player, the BJP should soon appoint or elect the party-state president,” political commentator R Mani said.

BJP leaders, L Ganesan, H Raja, CP Radhakrishnan are also to meet the BJP working president during his visit to Tiruvallur. The BJP which had been wooing actor Rajinikanth had also planned to intensify its Hindutva campaign seeking the reclamation of temple lands under encroachment.
