When Ravi, the cashier of Indian Bank Ammanpettai branch, near Tiruvaiyaru, opened the bank, he was shocked to find the window grills cut with a welding machine and chilli powder spread around the room. He immediately alerted manager Vasantha Kumar, who lodged a complaint with the Nadukaviri police.
On receiving information, the Nadukaviri police rushed to the spot along with the sniffer dog which ran up to the Kaliamman temple from the bank and returned. Â Â The initial investigation found that the miscreants had climbed the walls of the bank and had broken the window with the help of a cutting machine and entered through the opening from the window and disconnected the three CCTV cameras out of a total of six cameras.
Since there was no cash in any of the tables, the miscreants rushed to the locker and attempted to open it, but quickly escaped after sensing the people’s movement outside.
The police secured the other three camera footages and are searching for the miscreants. The bank officials heaved a sigh of relief as they came to know that all the valuables are safe.
