Health Minister visits Kasturba GH, checks maternity kit given to mothers

Vijaya Baskar visited the neonatal intensive critical care unit, emergency department, multi-super specialty ward, and maternity ward at the hospital. He checked the maternity kits that were being provided to the lactating mothers to improve their nutrition intake.

In a statement, the Health Minister said that the officers were instructed to track whether Amma Baby Care kit and Amma Nutrition Kit were reaching the patients. These kits are being distributed to the new mothers under Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy scheme along with the financial assistance of Rs 18,000. More than 70 per cent of deliveries were performed at the government hospitals across the State and State Health Department has also been providing proteins and iron tonic to the patients, he added.

“The infant mortality ratio and maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in the State has improved, with MMR dropping from 66 to 63 this year,” the Minister stated. He added that the schemes were being implemented effectively in the State and patients in the maternity ward were satisfied with the service at thehospital.
