Politically aware TN voters won’t support actors, says CPM leader

“The politics and approach of the two are very different. On what basis they would come together? Tamil Nadu people don’t lack political awareness to rally behind the actors launching political parties ahead of the elections. Rajinikanth indicated support to the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls but the people voted against them,” he told reporters after the party’s state committee meeting held here on Tuesday.
When asked whether actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan would be coming together for the 2021 state polls, he said that even in the state polls, there is a good chance of the people voting against the AIADMK-BJP alliance and in favour of the DMK-led alliance. “Those who are coming in between will not change the results,” he said.
To a query on Rajinikanth’s comment that Edappadi K Palaniswami becoming Chief Minister as a miracle, he said that he would not give explanation for all comments made by the actor and it was for the Chief Minister to react.
In a resolution, CPM state committee has decided to continue in the DMK-led alliance for the ensuing Local Body elections in order to defeat the AIADMK-BJP combine. “Like the huge victory registered in the Lok Sabha polls in the state, the people of the state should support the DMK-led alliance once again in the Local Body elections to defeat the AIADMK-BJP alliance,” it said.
