Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, who visited the parents of two-year-old Sujith Wilson on October 29 and consoled them on his death, announced a solatium of Rs 10 lakh from the State government.

The State government accordingly released the fund on Friday and District Collector S Sivarasu handed over the cheque to Sujith’s parents. After receiving it, the parents appealed to the Collector for a government employment post for the mother, to which Sivarasu said that he would recommend after learning of the vacancies in anganwadis.

Collector S Sivarasu, after informing media of the handing over of the solatium announced by the State government to Sujith’s parents, said that false information on the retrieval of the body of the toddler was being widely spread. The district administration has hence planned to initiate severe action against those who spread such wrong information, the Collector added.

“The post-mortem report would be received within two days. It is hurting that a few people have been spreading false information that the body was not retrieved. We have sent body samples for DNA testing and forensic analysis too, and this would answer the doubts of the public,” the Collector said.
