Kumaravel, who is the co-founder of a well-known chain of salons had resigned in March this year citing internal politics and lack of inner-party democracy. “Kamal Haasan is being misguided by people around him who don’t understand the ground reality,” he wrote in his letter toMNM founder.

In the rejig announced on Wednesday, Kamal has appointed Kumaravel, who joined the party again after elections and has been appointed as general secretary, party structure (South & West). A Arunachalam, who was general secretary, coordination has been appointed as the secretary to president’s office while A Sowrirajan has been appointed as co-ordination general secretary.

Interestingly, retired IAS officer Basheer Ahamed, who was holding the post of general secretary president’s office was relieved from the post. This is the second announcement of rejig after restructuring the party apparatus in August this year.

Pointing out that there was a strong need to change the political dynamics of the state, especially with the Assembly elections coming up in 2021, Kamal said that with a clear narrative of giving the people a government that exudes integrity and honesty, there is a definite need to strengthen the party further.

“With that in mind, the structure of Makkal Needhi Maiam has been altered in order to give it a facelift for a better performance. This structure has been designed to facilitate each and every cadre to reach and communicate with each and every voter of the state,” he said.

As a first step towards that expansion, he said that the party will induct new administrators at the state level. “I request the party cadre to kindly co-operate with them and stand with me in my objective to form a government that is truly for the people,” he said.
