927 dengue cases in Vellore, says Collector A Shanmuga Sundram

Interacting with the press after inspecting the Vellore Government Medical College Hospital, the Collector said 246 cases were reported between October 1 till present.

He said the number of out-patients are usually about 2,000 a day in the Gudiyattam government hospital but increased to more than 3,000 of late. Nearly 71 per cent suffer from viral fever. A total of 81 persons are diagnosed as suffering from dengue fever, he added.

Referring to Arakkonam, a constant check was maintained through approved clinics and government medical professionals, he said.  

Calling on the public to approach only government hospitals, PHCs and government-approved private clinics, he said a list of government and approved private doctors in Vellore and Vaniyambadi areas were released recently. 

He also stated that trained doctors and nurses are present in the government hospitals, PHCS and the medical college hospital who know to handle dengue fever cases. Nearly 13 check posts have been set up to check for fever cases, he added.
