Rain havoc continues in hills with road blockade, wall collapse
Traffic was disrupted on the Kotagiri Road after a huge tree got uprooted and fell blocking vehicle movement on Sunday.

As heavy rain continued to lash the hills over the last several days, a huge tree fell on the Kotagiri Road near Kannerimukku area. Following this buses and other vehicles were diverted through Mission Compound. On receiving information, the officials of the revenue department rushed to the spot and removed the fallen tree to pave way for traffic to resume after a few hours.
Meanwhile, a couple of houses were damaged in the rain in Pandalur and Kotagiri areas. Officials said that due compensation will be given to a woman in Jegathala panchayat as a portion of her house collapsed. A family in Adivasi Colony in Pandalur had a narrow escape as a damp wall of their house collapsed. Heavy showers have been lashing Manjoor, Kotagiri and Conoor localities for the last few days affecting normal life. Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts are alsopounded by rain.
Meanwhile, the body of Darshini, 19, a college student, who got washed away in Pandiaru on Saturday was retrieved on Sunday. The Devala police have registered a case.
