At the protest held by CPI (M), CPI and CPI (ML) Liberation here, CPI (M) leader A Soundararajan hit out at the ruling BJP for raising issues like scrapping of the Article 370 and challenging the neighbouring country in Maharastra and Haryana state assembly election campaign without uttering anything on creating new employment opportunities, health and education.
“The BJP government is acting against the minorities in a fascist way. It has been raising emotional issues like scrapping of Article 370 and challenging the neighbouring country without uttering anything on the issues concerning public like employment, education and health,” he said.
He said that the centre’s demonetisation and introduction of GST has severely impacted the purchasing power of the people and the closure of plants. “Rather taking steps to increase the purchasing power of the people and employment opportunities, the centre is, again and again, providing incentives to the corporates alone. The centre has provided Rs 1.4 lakh crore tax waiver for the corporates,” he said.
Soundararajan urged the centre to make use of the Rs 1.76 lakh crore surplus transferred by the RBI should be used for the public investment. “The public investment should be used to boost employment. Till then the centre should provide financial assistance to the unemployed youths. Besides, the minimum wage should be fixed at Rs 18,000,” he said.
