Alert me on abuse for quick action, Collector tells kids
Promising swift action against sexual predators, Ariyalur Collector TG Vinay instructed girl children in the district to contact the child helpline number 1098 or write an inland letter addressed to him so that he could direct officials to monitor the complaint and to punish the culprits.

Inaugurating the child protection awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary school, Ariyalur, the District Collector distributed inland letters to girl students and asked them to make use of the letters if they face molestation or come across any abuse done to them or to their friends. He told the children to write the details of the incident and post it to him. “It will certainly reach me and I will soon instruct the officials to attend it to and there will be a severe action taken against the offender. Just write it to me and drop them in the postal boxes and the letters will soon reach me,” he promised.
The Collector also said that steps are being initiated to curb child marriages in the district. “Those who were rescued are undergoing rehabilitation,” he said. He also urged the girl students to inform about child marriages to the officials so that the minor brides could be rescued and be given be better lives. District Child Welfare Officer N Vasantha Kumar, DEO N P Selvaraj and others were present.
