According to sources, the number of dengue cases reported in Tiruvarur district has been high with as many as seven people, including two children, showing symptoms of the disease.

As many as 53 people have been admitted in Tiruvarur GH till Tuesday and their blood samples were tested. Then, two female children-one from Tiruthuraipoondi in Tiruvarur and another from Nagapattinam-showed positive for symptoms of dengue. Meanwhile, two people from Villupuram and two from Tiruvarur, showing symptoms of dengue, were admitted in the special ward for dengue treatment.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man, identified as Satheeshwaran from Mananrgudi, tested positive for dengue and was soon taken to Mannargudi GH where he was admitted in the isolated ward.

Officials at the Tiruvarur medical college claimed that more number of outstation patients undergo treatment in the government hospital as those who contracted dengue were given prompt treatment. The officials also claimed that proper testing and treatment were being given only in the GH than in private hospitals, and so medical officials urge the people to approach only the GHs when they suffer from fever.
