NIA interrogates Ansarullah terror outfit suspect, relative in Nellai

The police sources said a five-member NIA team from Kochi conducted search operation in the house of M Diwan Mujipeer, located at Pallivasal North Street near Veeravanallur and his relative Mydeen at Puliyankudi, based on a warrant issued by the Special Court for NIA cases, Chennai.

Investigations have revealed that Diwan Mujipeer was involved in carrying out activities of Ansarullah, a terror outfit. During search operations, NIA sleuths seized three mobiles, four SIM cards and one memory card. Besides, some incriminating documents were also seized. All the seized material would be submitted to the Special Court and subjected to forensic examination. Information from credible sources revealed that Diwan worked in Dubai for the last 15 years and returned to his native place three months ago. Currently, Diwan is being examined for his role in the terror outfit, a statement said.

Already a case against sixteen accused in connection with the Ansarullah terror outfit was booked on July 9, 2019. The accused persons and their associates have collected funds as part of preparations to carry out terrorist attacks in India, with the intention of establishing Islamic rule in India. The accused persons and their associates were propagating the ideology of proscribed terrorist organization ISIS on social media with the intention of recruiting vulnerable youths into the ISIS for carrying out terrorist attacks in South India, especially Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The NIA has busted an ISIS module in South India after the Colombo terror attacks, taking into custody six persons from Coimbatore on June 12.
