More than 38.49 lakh people have so far been benefited under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS), said Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar.

Flagging off the mega awareness walkathon in connection with the first anniversary of the integrated Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY)-CMCHIS on Saturday, he said, “Under the scheme, more than 1,451 medical operations and surgeries have been conducted at about 990 approved government and private hospitals.” So far, the government has granted Rs 6,279 crores to the beneficiaries, he added. 
AB-PMJAY was clubbed with the CMCHIS scheme a year ago and Tamil Nadu is observing one-year anniversary of the association to create awareness about the scheme. Tamil Nadu ranks second in the country in the amount claimed under the AB-PMJAY, including claim amount for eight high-end procedures.
The Minister also met people living with HIV regarding the enhancement of HIV care continuum, a treatment model that outlines the stages of treatment that people living with HIV go through, from initial diagnosis to reduce viral load.
