The recent statements from actors Surya, Kamal and Vijay are defamatory and we will retaliate. The only intention of the actors is to market their films and fleece the public, AIADMK functionaries told DT Next.
“These days the movies are not running beyond 20 days and to ensure ticket collection, this has become a habit for to actors,” former minister and AIADMK spokesperson Vaigai Chelvan told reporters. This is just a stunt to make his upcoming movie popular, Chelvan said.

“For the third time, actor Vijay has spoken against the state and all the sequences have been related to his movie,” said AIADMK former MLA Ku Srinivasan. This is a just cheap tactic to make the movies popular and this has been the tradition after the days of matinee idol MGR. If you want to popularise a movie one should spend crores on publicity and posters, but without spending money the publicity is earned at the cost of politics.

These actors do not speak about social reforms or constructive politics when there is no movie release. Only during the release of their multi-crore budget films, their mouths open wide crying foul, Srinivasan said.

Actor Vijay, who had attacked the state and Centre through his earlier films ‘Mersal’ and ‘Sarkar’ had continued the stint for the third time. Addressing his film’s audio release programme on Friday, Vijay who offered his condolences to Subhasri said, “People with the right skills must be employed in each industry. If people place the right person for the job in the right position, then all the issues will be solved.”

Last year, the AIADMK and the state BJP units demanded the deletion of certain scenes and dialogues from ‘Sarkar’ movie as they were derogatorily targeting the images of the state and Central government.

Meanwhile, DMK spokesperson Thanga Tamilselvan and DMK organising secretary RS Bharathi welcomed the actor for his outspoken comments against the state authorities.
