The deceased victim was identified as S Muthu (a)Ajithkumar (a) Sakkadai, was a resident of Chettiyar street in Thiruppuvanam. The 19-year-old polytechnic student returned to his house at Thiruppuvanam from his hostel in Trichy on September 4.

However, the youth went missing on the day he returned and even after days of extensive search, they were unable to trace his whereabouts.

Hence, the father of the youngster lodged a complaint with Thiruppuvanam police on September 7.

The preliminary investigations revealed that the missing boy was murdered by an armed gang and his body was buried on riverbed.

The deceased Muthu is suspected to be murdered as he was already involved in a murder of one identified as Muniyandi of Kothankulam village due to property dispute in Ramanathapuram district in 2018. However, the police acquitted Muthu as the boy was juvenile.

In the fit of revenge, Sivamani and Ayyanar, who were said to be relatives of murdered Muniyandi, along with others hatched a plot and murdered him. A total of nine persons allegedly involved in the murder and three among them had been picked up for interrogation, sources said.
