Condoling the death of young woman techie R Subhasri in Chennai on Thursday evening, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Friday ordered to remove all banners erected on the roads in Puducherry.

In a press release here, Narayanasamy said several banners were erected on Puducherry roads also without the approval of the municipality and commune panchayats. Since frequent rain, accompanied by strong winds, is occurring at present here, there is every possibility of such an accident happening inPuducherry also.

Hence, people should not erect banners for birthdays or marriages without the permission of the municipality or commune panchayats, he said, adding that LAD Minister A Namasivayam should ponder over this and stringent action be initiated againstthe offenders.

He advised the people to remove such banners themselves, failing which the municipality, PWD and commune panchayats would remove them and the cost for the same would be collected from those who erected them and further legal action wouldbe initiated.

The chief minister sought the cooperation of all to remove the banner culture from Puducherry which will spoil the beauty ofthe city.
