Fill up posts in govt colleges: CPM

“Tamil Nadu has 99 Government Arts and Science Colleges in which 4,000 teaching positions are vacant. This year, the government has announced that 81 new courses will be started. This has increased the demand for teachers,” he wrote in the letter to the Chief Minister.

The CPM state secretary noted that as against the 4,000 vacancies, the state government has announced the appointment of 2,334 college teachers. “On behalf of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), I request the Government of Tamil Nadu to take appropriate action to fill all the vacant posts to improve the quality of higher education,” he said, urging the government to give priority to the guest lecturers when appointing lecturers for permanent position. Besides, the government should fill up the vacancies of the college principals, Director of Collegiate Education and deputy directors of Collegiate Education, he said.
