Head constable Arulanandan, attached to the Tiruchy City Armed Reserve, in the WhatsApp audio, begins by comparing the police chief to his father, saying, “Even the superior officer is like one’s father and it is the son’s duty to salute him.”

He goes on to say, “I belong to the 1997 batch and am a head constable attached to AR Tiruchy. My juniors, belonging to the 1999 batch, have been promoted to sub-inspectors. How come they got promoted before our batch?”

“I am taking the liberty of asking the question because it is like asking my father. We expect justice from you. I don’t think fighting the issue legally is going to help us. You know who is elder and who is younger. I am not saying that they don’t deserve to be promoted. But we too should have been considered. In fact, I even trained them. I have a clean record. I have completed 22 years of service. Please look into the issue and take necessary action,” Arulanandan says.

“I think my worries are justified. If I have committed a mistake, I am ready to face it,” he adds.

When contacted, the office of the DGP JK Tripathy, said that the head of the police force has received the audio message and would look into the issue.
