Special court for Pocso cases soon: EPS
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has said that a special court will be set up for the trial of Pocso cases in Tamil Nadu.

Participating at an inaugural function of a Munsif and Judicial Magistrate court in Edappadi in Salem on Sunday, Palaniswami said as per Supreme Court directives, a new court to try Pocso cases will be set up in Tamil Nadu.
Stating that the new court will take up cases from three police jurisdictions- Edappadi, Poolampatti and Konganapuram, the CM said, “Nearly 531 cases from Konganapuram Munsif court and 377 from two magistrate courts in Sangagiri will be transferred to this court to ensure speedy justice for the petitioners.” “In the last eight years, the State government has spent Rs 1,000 crore towards constructing courts, their maintenance, and quarters for judicial officers. From 2011-12 to 2018-19, the state government has given consent to set up 456 new courts,” he said.
A few days ago, data had revealed that in the last seven years, TN witnessed more acquittals than convictions in Pocso cases. Only 689 people were convicted, but2,902 people were acquitted.
