Vaiko says ‘no’ to bursting of crackers at party functions

“In the functions in which Vaiko is participating, the party cadre express their joy by bursting crackers. Due to bursting of crackers there will be traffic jam,possibilities of fire accident and there will be environment pollution,” said an official note from the party headquarters.

The note also warned that if the party workers do not comply to the instructions strict action would be taken against them.

This is not the first time that the party is involved in issuing advisory note to its workers. Recently, Vaiko directed his party cadre to pay Rs 100 to take photo with him and not to adorn shawl during the meeting but to contribute the money for the party.

Vaiko has already directed the cadre orally to avoid erecting flex boards and banners, but the orders were not complied with.

Political observers said that even the order of adorning shawl will not be followed by the cadre as they cannot be controlled.

However, the announcement of crackers causing pollution was not expected from Vaiko who was elected as MP from Sivakasi constituency twice, once in 1998 and next time in 1999 and repercussions might come from Sivakasi, the largest manufacturer of crackers in the country.
