Special Kalaimamani awards in the name of Jayalalitha: TN CM

Tamil Nadu Iyal Isai Nadaga Mandram did not present Kalaimamani awards for the past eight years. On behalf of Tamil Nadu government, Kalaimamani awards event took place on 13th August in Kalaivanar Arangam in Chepauk.

Speaker P Dhanapal presided over the event. In the event, the artistes were presented with Kalaimamani award, gold medal, certificates, All India award winner certificates, cheques, shields and so on by the Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy.

The Chief Minister went down to present the awards to the elderly artistes who were not able to climb onto the stage.

During his speech in the event he expressed his happiness in presenting the awards. He announced the weight of the gold medals will be 40 grams as per the artistes’ wishes. He also said that three special Kalaimamani awards will be presented. And the elderly artistes will receive Rs 3,000 instead of Rs 2,000 every month as endowment.

Arikesanallur Venkataraman who writes reviews in ‘Dina thanthi’ was one among other writers who received Kalaimamani award. Actors Pandiarajan, Saravanan, Srikanth, Sasikumar, Karthi and so many other artistes were the award winners.

Ministers including T Jayakumar, Dindigul Srinivasan, Sengottaiyan, MLAs and artistes participated in the event.
