    On the occasion of Independence Day, the Chennai fort is under 5- tier police protection and around 75 cameras are installed for surveillance.

    Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August all over the country. Following the Kashmir issue, the Central Government had warned all states to take precaution against possible terrorism.

    DGP Thiripathi ordered to increase protection in Tamil Nadu. Around 1 lakh Police Officers are positioned for security purposes.

    Commissioner AK Vishwanadhan is arranging the protection forces in Chennai. 

    In the honour of Independence Day, Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy will hoist the Indian flag and will present the Independence Day speech in the St. George fort. He will also watch the honourable march past of the Police Officers afterwards.

    Deputy Commissioner Rajendran and other Officers participated in the meeting headed by Additional Commissioner Dinakaran to discuss the groundwork to secure the event.

    One of the officers commented about the police protection around the fort area. He said that the fort is under 5- tier police protection and around 3,000 police officers including local Police, Commando Police Force, and Tamil Nadu Police Forces are placed. He said that the vehicle traffic is changed in the area. 

    He also said that along with the already installed 60 cameras, 15 more are installed for tracking and drones will be circulating for extra surveillance.

    Vehicles and lodges will be thoroughly checked, he added.
