Hospital razes hotel building over property row
A portion of a hotel in Coimbatore was razed down allegedly by the administration of a private hospital over a property dispute in the early morning hours on Monday.

The hospital management has resorted to unruly methods in a bid to forcefully evict the hotel from the locality. Also staff of the hospital ransacked the hotel and hurled stones resulting in a few hotel staff suffering injuries.
The asbestos roofed kitchen of the hotel has been completely brought down. The premise, where the hotel is located has been rented out by the hospital management for the past 45 years. Even as the issue is in court, the hospital management resorted to the drastic step to evict the hotel.
In the early morning hours, hospital administration began to demolish a portion of the hotel given on rent by engaging earthmovers.
Tension prevailed as a group of men from the hospital hurled stones targeting the hotel and its workers. The video of the attack was shared widely insocial media.
On receiving information, the Race Course police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Following a complaint, the Race Course police have taken up investigations. Also police have been deployed in the spot to prevent any further untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, the Coimbatore District Hoteliers Association condemned the attack unleashed on a hotel
“The hospital management has stooped down to such low levels to evict the hotel even though the issue is under negotiation. They have involved in the mindless act without a thought on the dangers posed by the LPG pipe line and electric equipment’s to workers during their unruly act,” said D Srinivasan, president of the association.
