Eyeing CM’s chair in 2021 TN polls, MNM to conduct rallies from Aug 14
Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan on Sunday announced a series of public meetings titled “2021 - Government for Us” starting from Madurai on August 14 explaining rejig of party organisational structure aiming to capture power in the 2021 state assembly polls.

In a statement here, Kamal Haasan said that the public rallies would be held in Madurai region comprising of Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Theni and Sivaganga and Virudhunagar district in Tirunelveli zone on August 14, 15 and 16.
Pointing out that the people of the state have voted for his party in the Lok Sabha polls acknowledging its far sight and clean politics proposed by it, he said his party continues to function with new vigour and responsibly considering the faith placed by the voters. “We have been taking all the steps to form a new government in the ensuing state polls to achieve our only goal of people’s welfare. As part of it, we have decided to expand our party organisational structure,” he said.
The public explanation rallies would be addressed by party vice president R Mahendran, general secretary A Arunachallam and treasurer A Chandrasekaran.
After making its electoral debut in the just-concluded Lok Sabha elections, MNM has embarked on a major reorganisation of his party structure to reach out more section of the voters. In the parliamentary polls, the MNM has finished third in 13 constituencies and fetched more votes in urban areas than in rural seats.
MNM has embarked on a major reorganisation of the party after it had exclusively secured the services of the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), a private organisation that successfully managed the electoral campaign of the BJP in 2014. I-PAC founder Prashant Kishor who is also vice-president of the JD(U) would mentor the MNM on building a robust party structure and devise strategies to reach out a wider section of the people, particularly in rural areas, said sources in MNM.
