Amit Shah to release VP Naidu’s book on two years in office in Chennai today
A book chronicling two years in office of Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will be released by Union Home Minister and BJP National President Amit Shah in a function organised by Information and Broadcasting Ministry in the city on Sunday.

The function, to be held at Kalaivanar Arangam in the city, is being hosted by Union Minister of Environment Forests, Climate Change and Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar.
The book, titled Listening, Learning and Leading, captures a few glimpses of the Vice President’s 330 public engagements across all the States and Union Territories of the country during the last two years.
Crisscrossing the length and breadth of the country, the Vice President has delivered 61 convocation addresses, interacted with students on 35 occasions, visited 97 scientific and technological research institutions and delivered 25 special lectures. The book contains Naidu’s important diplomatic engagements, including his visits to 19 countries in four continents.
He was the first Indian Vice President to visit Panama, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Malta. The book will also showcase his achievements as Rajya Sabha Chairman and his initiatives to enhance effectiveness, and promote the efficiency of Rajya Sabha. Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will be participating in the event.
Eminent agriculture scientist Prof MS Swaminathan, former ISRO director K Kasturirangan, former Attorney General K Parasaran, Tughlak Editor S Gurumurthy, Apollo Hospital Group Chairman Pratap C Reddy, VIT Founder-Chancellor G Viswanathan, Chief National Coach of Indian Badminton Team Pullela Gopichand, several dignitaries and eminent personalities will also attend the event.
In view of the visit of top leaders, a five-tier security arrangements were made in the city. This will be Amit Shah’s first visit to the State after he assumed office as Union Home Minister.
This is also his first public event after he moved a bill to abrogate Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories.
Police sources said elaborate security arrangements has been made all along the route and venue.
“A five-tier security has been put in place at the venue from Saturday morning. Around 500 police personnel consisting of local police, Special Forces and Reserve police will be deployed at the airport, the route and at the venue,” the sources added.
When Venkaiah Naidu arrived at the Chennai airport on Saturday, he was received by Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Ministers D Jayakumar, K Pandiarajan and Benjamin, Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal, Chief Secretary M Shanmugham, Director General of Police JK Tripathy and other officials. After a brief reception, Naidu left for Raj Bhavan for an overnight stay. Amit Shah and Prakash Javadekar were expected to arrive later in the day.
