8 tmc from AP will end city’s water woes: EPS
Drinking water shortage in Chennai will soon be resolved as neighbouring Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has agreed to release eight tmc of water, CM Edappadi K Palaniswami told reporters here on Saturday.

Chennai
State Ministers SP Velumani and D Jayakumar had met AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy in Vijayawada and requested for early release of Krishna water. “I thank the Andhra CM for agreeing to release water and the State would soon resolve the drinking water crisis,” he said.
When asked about the party’s defeat in Vellore Lok Sabha election, Palaniswami said though DMK president MK Stalin had claimed his party would win the seat by a huge margin, DMK won the seat by a meagre 8,141 votes and this shows that the AIADMK’s vote bank is intact. Further, AIADMK has secured more votes than the DMK in the three assembly segments. For AIADMK, this a moral victory, CM said.
When asked whether minorities have ditched the AIADMK in Vaniyambadi and Ambur constituencies, he said it is difficult to study who voted for which party. AIADMK is a party that works for the public and not based on caste and religion, the CM said adding that there is no room for religious politics in the State.
It may be noted that the winning DMK candidate Kathir Anand garnered a 47.3 per cent vote share, while AC Shanmugam of New Justice Party, who contested in the AIADMK’s ‘Two Leaves’ symbol and got 46.51 per cent share, separating the victory by 0.8 per cent.
Both CM and deputy CM O Panneerselvam have thanked the ministers, MLAs, MPs, party functionaries, spokespersons, district secretaries and alliance leaders for campaigning in Vellore.
The CM also emphasised that the State is closely monitoring the flood situation in The Nilgiris and taking relief measures. State Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar is stationed in the hilly district monitoring the relief measures.
